Citizen Science Month builds awareness of opportunities for all people to participate in science in meaningful ways. Nobody knows everything but everybody knows something and together, we can help solve local, regional, national and global challenges. Small acts, such as sharing a picture of a fish or a coral from the Great Barrier Reef, can help scientists better understand population changes and help protect this natural wonder. The Great Southern BioBlitz is an international period of intense biological surveying in an attempt to record all the living species within several designated areas across the southern hemisphere. The purpose of this event is to highlight both the immense biodiversity spread across the Southern Hemisphere as well as to engage the public in science and nature learning using the citizen science platform iNaturalist.
